The AP-7, without trucks and with speed restrictions for the December bridge

The Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, has announced that for the December long weekend the Government will restrict the movement of trucks on the AP-7 motorway and will limit your speed, and has advanced that they will open additional lanes in some sections.

According to a statement on Tuesday, the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) has established a first phase of the bridge from December 2 to 6 -when it figures in 470,000 vehicles displaced expected in the exit operation and in 240,000 those of the return operation-- and a second phase from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 --when it expects 420,000 and 250,000 cars respectively--.

Trucks will not be able to circulate on the AP-7 motorway on Sunday, December 11 between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., in the second section of the return operation.

Likewise, during exit operations they must circulate on the right and 80km/hour in the section of said road that runs from Granollers to Martorell (Barcelona) and in the southern area where there are only two lanes.

In return operations, they must drive to the right and at the same speed in sections where there are additional lanes.

The Generalitat will install these additional lanes during return operations between Llinars and Montornès (Barcelona) and between Vilafranca (Tarragona) and El Papiol (Barcelona), and on the C-17 road as it passes through Ripoll (Girona).

At a press conference together with the mayoress of Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona), Mireia Ingla, and the director of the Catalan Traffic Service, Ramon Lamiel, the councilor celebrated the reduction in traffic speed to 100 km/hour in the section of the Vallés (Barcelona) of the AP-7, and has asked for "speed" to implement the measure in the pending sections.
